As I flipped through the December issue of InStyle, I came across this page:

Shearling is “down’s more polished sister,” according to the fashion editors at InStyle, and I couldn’t agree more! Whether it’s a touch of faux fur trim on your boots or a fully furry vest, you’re guaranteed to look luxe and cozy. Here are a few ways for you to stay on-trend, courtesy of The Rare Pair!

Wrap Yourself in Cozy: (the vest is reversible!)

Get to Know You: Caroline Nitz

If you’ve been wondering who’s been doing this blog for the past four months, wonder no more! This “Get to Know You” post is a chance for you to get to know me!

Name: Caroline Nitz

How long have you worked at The Rare Pair?
Almost three and a half years. I started during the spring of my freshman year at St. Olaf in 2008.

Favorite brand (of the moment) that we carry?
I’m drooling over the new Frye styles we got earlier this fall. They’re so beautiful and they’ll never go out of style. That’s the sign of a great boot. And as you can see in the picture above, I have a few other things on my wish list…

What do you think is the most comfortable shoe at The Rare Pair?
I think Keens are incredibly comfortable. Every style we have – from sandals and sneakers to boots – has such good support.

What’s the strangest or funniest thing that’s happened to you while working at The Rare Pair?
During my first summer of working at The Rare Pair, my coworker and I propped the front door open because it was such a beautiful evening. All of a sudden, a dog comes trotting around the corner and runs right into the store – no owner, no leash, no collar! We had to literally herd it into the back room where we keep the shoe boxes. Luckily, my coworker had an idea of who the owner was, and we were able to track them down. Definitely a memorable night at The RP.

What do you like most about your job?
I’m proud to work at a store that has such a long history in Northfield. It’s a place where people have shopped for decades, which really says something about the relationship we have with the community! I also like how my job at The RP has evolved. My true passion is writing, so I’m thrilled that I get to do The RP blog, our email newsletters and our social media. It’s exciting to connect with our customers in new ways. And finally, I just plain love my coworkers.

Items pictured above: Hunter boots ($115), Ellington cross-body bag ($109), Big Buddha sequin purse ($80), navy Kerisma sweater ($44) and Aryeh sweater dress ($50).
